PROJECT WARRIOR UP!

Wiconi Wawokiya

Vision of Executive Director, Lisa Heth

In 2015 I had a vision from the Creator. I saw hundreds of horses with warriors on them. Creator spoke to me and said, "I am going to raise up the men to become protectors of the women, children, lands and water."

As the horses were running with the warriors, the horses turned and started to run towards me. I asked the Creator why they were running towards me and Creator said, "Because I am going to use you to help them heal". I started to cry.

Ever since I had that vision I have been praying and asking Creator, "What are we to do?"

One thing that Creator showed me was that crimes against our women and children will not go down until we get our men healed in our communities,

So what can be done?

We need men to come forward and get the help and healing they need to become the protectors of our women and children and take their rightful place in their homes.

Males need to be believed and heard no matter their age and no matter who the abusers are.

Justice doesn't always mean prison time for family members who are abusers, There are many options that can be made available for victims and abusers.

Until we address these issues our communities will not be healed. Until our men are healed, young males as well as females are not protected.

THE HARD TRUTH

RESERVATION STATISTICS SHOW:

1 BOY IN 5  WILL BE SEXUALLY ASSAULTED.

MOST MALES DO NOT REPORT SEXUAL ABUSE DUE TO CULTURAL AND SOCIAL STIGMAS

Wiconi  Wawokiya is calling on our fathers, uncles, brothers and nephews to become warriors and protectors. This is your purpose- to protect!

We need men to start support groups, men's healing circles and lead by example. Wiconi is here to help in whatever way possible such as providing safe space to meet and services.

If you were in prison for sexual abuse and have served your time and have made your amends or were truly sorry for your crimes, you can become involved and help to make our communities better by speaking out against sexual abuse, and becoming protectors. You can reach out out to other sexual offenders being released from prison and help them to integrate back into tribal communities and live a healthy drug and alcohol free life.

Get involved with Wiconi in planning community activities such as Warrior and Wellness Day in October. We need you to help our communities healthy and thriving!

Wiconi will be looking at ways to help male victims in our community to heal, grow and unlearn unhealthy behaviors by replacing them with healthier behaviors.

Please help us help others by making contributions to provide services to males.  These funds will help to provide a safe space, food, clothing, hygiene and training.
